Newsletter #5 29 December 2011 Kia ora whanau Aroha mai for the unexpected newsletter.  I just wanted to touch base with as many people as possible to let you all know what we are doing for Exodus with the current weather forecast.  So here goes.... FORECAST: The forecast is for rain on the day - plain and simple.  It will be warm though, 23 degrees is the expected high with rain during the day.  I just want to let you all know that EXODUS 2012 will still be going ahead rain or shine.  All the bands are pumped to perform and lucky for us, Reggae fans are pretty tough and don't let a bit of rain...

EXODUS 2012, New Years Eve Festival

EXODUS FESTIVAL - The first ever NZ Reggae new years festival was held 31st December 2011 at Papamoa, New Zealand. The 13+ hour long festival featured 11 acts including NZ’s top reggae bands Katchafire, House of Shem, 1814, Three Houses Down, Ardijah, Sons of Zion, Tomorrow People, Foundation, Vintage, NRG Rising and Homai Te Paki Paki winner Chad Chambers. Katchafire

Katchafire are an all Maori reggae band from Hamilton, who have achieved phenomenal success over the last few years. Their debut album, the prophetically named Revival release by Mai Music, has sold in excess of 45,000 copies with Giddy Up being the biggest selling single of 2003. 2004’s follow up, Slow Burning, was similarly well received, selling 20,000 copies in the first week of release. The acclaim has not just been in New Zealand though: two tours to Hawaii in 2006 have resulted in sales of 14,000 copies of Revival, and Slow Burning was released there in March 2007. Ardijah

The birth of Ardijah began in 1978 with the meeting of two Maori fellas, Ryan Monga and John Wihongi (aka Jaydee) in a Dawson Rd garage in Otara. This was their first jam, with Ryan on funk/bass and Jaydee on funk/rock guitar, they knew by their 2nd meeting that the gelling of their musical talents was a winner. looking to expand their band, they placed a $15 ad in the NZ Herald.  The placement of James Tuiara on percussion/vocals and Richie Campbell on drums meant Ardijah the covers band was born, generating the exact groove that Ryan & Jaydee were looking for. Three Houses Down

Three Houses Down is a 10 piece reggae band from Auckland New Zealand.
